Dr. Armin Ernst, CEO and President at Steward Health Care International and senior medical advisor to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), addressed the 68th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe (CEU) that was held under the auspices of the Government of Bulgaria in Sofia from 31 May to 2 June 2023.

Medical and wellness tourism has experienced significant growth due to the combination of quality medical care, more affordable prices, and technological advances. It is a phenomenon that will continue to grow in the coming years, providing opportunities for both patients and tourist destinations. Quality medical care also presents a critical infrastructure requirement for international travellers and needs to be incorporated into any infrastructure planning.
