Steward Health Care International met with Egypt Healthcare Authority to discuss value-based care in medicine

Steward Health Care International was invited by the Egyptian Health Authority to review the country’s path to value-based care in medicine. Dr. Armin Ernst, CEO and President of Steward Healthcare International and Dr. Ahmed El-Sobki, Chairperson of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA), Assistant Minister of Health and Population, and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, had an opportunity to discuss the significant process Egypt has made on the path to care integration. The visit also included several in- depth reviews of primary health centers, secondary and tertiary facilities, and pharmacies in already established clusters.

Dr. Ernst commented on the tremendous progress the country has achieved in comparably short period of time. “Of particular note are the committed, focused and enthusiastic employees and health care providers, who have been instrumental in the transformation of the health system”.

In addition, Dr. El-Sobki outlined several proposed areas of cooperation and planned private sector participation. It was agreed that these areas will be further explored in the coming period.
