Steward Malta

Rapid success in Malta

Steward Health Care International is fully dedicated to providing quality health care at the Gozo, Karin Grech and St. Luke’s Hospitals in Malta. We operate three hospitals for the Maltese government under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, which enables the delivery of efficient and quality health care services within modern facilities. We are proud to offer unparalleled services, including a world-class orthotic and prosthetic programme. Our local services in Malta and Gozo include not only leading clinical facilities with full-time staff but also the only on-site fabrication of prosthetic devices in the country, drastically improving the lives of many patients.

Steward Malta

We operate the only acute care hospital on the island of Gozo,

which sees a large surge of tourists each year, making it the go-to facility for one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. We are able to provide a wide range of treatments to meet all our patients’ needs, from urgent care for tourists who have suffered from diving incidents with the use of hyperbaric chambers, to the general care of the local population. Steward has also revolutionised the medical transportation between Gozo and mainland Malta, replacing the ferry with an air-ambulance service to transport patients rapidly between the islands to ensure they receive the best possible treatment in moments of urgent need.

Training the next generation of health care professionals

We sponsored the establishment of a new nursing degree programme in Malta, in collaboration with Northumbria University to facilitate vocational training. We also rapidly built a state-of-the-art medical school campus at the Gozo General Hospital, in partnership with Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, a faculty of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), one of the three largest colleges of the University of London, and a member of the prestigious Russell Group. We are fully committed to training the next generation of health care professionals.
